Summer 2017 Camps Description

Bricks 4 Kidz® camps keep the pace fast and varied with guided projects and challenges as well as time for free-play, so the kids are always having fun. Children work in pairs to build projects using Bricks 4 Kidz® model plans. They also get to make creations of their own during free play. We keep the action going with unique indoor and outdoor games and challenges using LEGO® Bricks as well as LEGO® Art and craft to make sure they get their fill of LEGO® fun!

What to bring to our Summer Holiday Camps:

1. Please complete your child’s Information Form and indicate and special requirements for your child (i.e., allergies, medical, behavioural concerns).  Bricks 4 Kidz instructors will collect all waiver forms on the first day of camp.

2. Please provide your child with appropriate summer gear (i.e., hat, sunscreen, water bottle) a NUT-FREE morning & afternoon snacks and lunch (if registered for morning and afternoon camps)

Bat League: Villains & Heroes

Enter the dark city where a dangerous jokester and other evil villains wreak havoc. Thankfully there is a bat hero who comes out each night to fight against these evil-doers! The good guys will ride into action as campers build motorized models of the bat hero’s speedy vehicle and bat girl’s sleek motorcycle. But keep the bat light searching for the evil jokester’s motorized low rider vehicle cruising through the city streets as well. Send the bat hero swinging on his grappling hook technic model from one skyscraper to the next as he fights crime with his trusty super sidekick. Campers will use their imaginations, building skills and crime-fighting passion in this thrilling camp of bat heroes and villains!

Brick City

Let’s build a CITY! There are many different types of engineering jobs, and building is one of the most fun! What would a city be without the architects and engineers who come up with the ideas, plans and building skills to make it all come together? Campers will put their engineering and architecture skills to work as they build city themed models using LEGO® Bricks. The sky’s the limit when campers are challenged to use their own ideas and skills to build a skyscraper taller than their heads! They’ll have a blast using custom-built cars to move the people of the city all around town – brick by brick! What an accomplishment to be able to proudly exclaim “We built this BRICK City!”

Galaxy Far Away

Inspired by NASA and Star Wars™, our Star Wars Adventures Camp is packed full of models that will make your imagination blast off! Each day, campers will learn about real-life space exploration and build models related to the NASA space program. In addition, the day includes LEGO Star Wars™ themed models, group games, challenges and more. Join us on an adventurous journey through space. We’ll build motorized models that represent spacecraft from your favorite popular space movie Star Wars. Come experience this stellar journey to a galaxy far away!

GO Pokemon Brick Monsters

Whether you’re just starting out in Pokémon Go or you’ve been playing obsessively to the point that it hinders your life productivity, this camp will have something for everyone. So let us take you through our expansive list of builds like Poke Balls, Pikachu, Stardust and more. Who knows, maybe you’ll pick up some tips and tricks you may have overlooked while you were heads down, searching for a Pikachu. Bring your own Pokemon trading cards if you wish to play and trade at the end of each day. Do you have what it takes to become a Pokemon Master?

Mining & Crafting

Minecraft is a game about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine. At night monsters come out, make sure to build a shelter before that happens. Experience the world of Minecraft with Lego bricks in this fun summer camp. Steve is jumping for joy as he introduces the newest members of his Minecraft® world. Campers will be challenged to bring their virtual designs to life by building new mob figures, mosaics and custom models, incorporating LEGO® Bricks. So, are you ready for the challenge?  Students will face new challenges each day, building models and crafting key elements from the popular Minecraft game.

Brick Fusion

Fusion indeed!!!. Imagine a fusion of all our fun Lego theme camps Lego Batman Movie, Brick City Engineers, Pokémon Go, Minecraft, Starwars and Remote Control Mania and more.. in one camp week. It happens only at this camp. Do you have what it takes to face this extreme adventure.

Electronics

Enables students to learn about electrical circuits and electronic devices in a simple way through building a wide variety of digital systems. Makes learning electronics easy and fun! Just follow the our B4K instructor and build exciting projects, such as alarms, doorbells, flying saucers and much more! You can even play electronic games with your friends. All parts are mounted on plastic modules and snap together with ease. Enjoy hours of educational fun while learning about electronics. No tools required. Take the kit home after you do a two week camp with us.

Robotics WeDo® 1.0 & 2.0 paired with Edison Robot (Age 7-9)

Robotics WeDo 1.0

Provides a fun and easy way to get started on robotics. Students will build models, attach simple sensors and motors, plug them into their computers, and then configure behaviour using intuitive, icon-based easy to use We Do 1.0 software. Enables students to develop an understanding of how gears, wheels and powered machines with motors function through building pre-designed models.

Robotics WeDo 2.0

This course strengthens children’s understanding of the eight science and engineering practices. Which is done by asking questions, solving problems, modeling, prototyping, investigating, analyzing and interpreting data. The software WeDo 2.0 makes science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and coding come to life. The unique combination of the LEGO brick, engaging B4K builds results in a resource that builds students’ confidence to ask questions, define problems and design their own solutions by putting STEM learning directly in their hands.

Edison Robot 1 and 2

Edison is a super affordable robot that works with LEGO® bricks and can be controlled and programmed in three ways.

  1. Barcodes – Edison can read special barcodes that activate pre-programmed functions like follow a line or avoid obstacles
  2. TV/DVD remote control – Edison can learn driving commands from standard TV or DVD remote controls
  3. Program – Edison can be programmed from a computer or tablet using EdWare.
  4. EdWare is a graphical based programming language that’s easy to use and learn

Edison is a lot of fun, works with Lego bricks and can teach young and older kids a lot about robotics and programming.

Robotics EV3 1.0 & 2.0 paired with Edison Robot (Age 9-12+)

3G EV3 Robotics:

A simplified version of 3G Robotics targeting 9+ years old children. The course enables students to design, program and control fully functional models. Students will use software to plan, test and modify sequences of instructions for a variety of life-like robotic behaviours.

3G EV3 Advance Robotics:

Enables students to design, program and control fully functional models. Students will use software to plan, test and modify sequences of instructions for a variety of life-like robotic behaviours. Introduces many challenging builds that consists of a number of missions simulating real-life engineering problems. Students will learn more about systems, subsystems and advanced programming algorithms.
